About us

Girlguiding West Yorkshire South county is part of Girlguiding – the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK with over 500,000 members.  We are run by volunteers with the aim of helping all girls to know they can do anything.

Girlguiding West Yorkshire South is one of 17 Counties that make up Girlguiding North East England Region (NEE).  NEE is one of nine Regions and Countries of Girlguiding, the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in the UK.

At Girlguiding West Yorkshire South we have over 3,500 members, including 800 volunteers and 3,000 girls and young women. We have 200 Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger units who meet regularly across the whole of the county and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and communities.

We cover the same areas as Wakefield and Kirklees Councils.  From Holmfirth in the west to Knottingley in the east, and take in Huddersfield, Batley, Mirfield, Dewsbury, Ossett, Wakefield, Ackworth, Pontefract and Castleford.

We love to organise division and district events for the girls (and ourselves!) such as activity days, campfires, residential events and trips to the cinema.

We also have a campsite at Midgley which we share with Wakefield North Division.  Wakefield Divisions Campsite – Wakefield North and South Division Campsite (weebly.com)
