At Girlguiding West Yorkshire South we provide training courses, events and other opportunities for leaders and members to develop their skills, meet other people and share experiences.

Our annual multi training day with a variety of trainings to choose from. Choose a morning and afternoon session from those available. There will also be all day sessions for 1st response and LDP training running alongside – please see separate details.

Morning sessions are:
– A safe space level 3
– Summer fun
– Giving girls a voice in the unit
– Finance, branding & GO 101

Afternoon sessions are:
– Commissioners
– Food in an inclusive unit
– International activities in the unit
– Finance, branding and GO 101

How you recognise signs of abuse and how you respond to allegations, disclosures or concerns

Level 3 must be completed by mentors, advisers, coordinators (except GO coordinators), licence holders on residentials, trainers, tutors, anyone leading a team of adults, and those doing level 4. As well as at least 1 leader per unit (leader, assistant leader, leader in training) must have an in-date level 3. But we recommend that all leaders complete it.

Don’t forget you’ll also need to complete levels 1 and 2.

Outdoor skills day

A fun day at the Wakefield divisions campsite learning lots of outdoors skills.

Read more

Activities will include tent erecting, backwoods cooking, looking at DofE kit.

We will look at taking some UMAs and skills builders outdoors and finish with a campfire.

Attending a course

Please wear casual uniform, if possible.

Refreshments are provided, but bring your own lunch for day-long courses unless the course details says otherwise.

Please do not turn up to a course which you have not booked onto and received a booking acknowledgement.

Paying for a course

All course bookings are made via our Eventbrite platform – please follow the link above for your chosen course. 

You can pay via debit/credit card, cheque or by bank transfer. To pay by bank transfer you will need to select Pay By Invoice on the eventbrite booking.

The cost of all training courses are legitimate unit expenses.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend a course you are booked onto, please notify the County Administrator as soon as possible at office@girlguidingwestyorkshiresouth.org.uk. For courses that are paid for in advance the fees are non-refundable unless we can reallocate the place to another leader.
